As we combat the global pandemic caused by Covid-19, we face another virus just as deadly: racism. Calls to end injustice and police brutality against Black Americans have historically been met with indifference, disbelief or rejection. Racism has long been a stain on the fabric of America, but recently its ugly truth has been thrust into the national light of day with the brutal, senseless murder of George Floyd by law enforcement officers sworn to protect and serve. No longer able to look away, America is now forced to reckon with an ugly truth that too long has been denied.

The law firm of Schochor, Staton, Goldberg, and Cardea, P.A. joins those around the country and the world calling for reforms to our system of justice that devalues Black lives. We call for equal justice in America and for the eradication of the virus of racism that infects the hearts and compromises the souls of too many. Black lives matter.

We invoke the names of some of those who have lost their lives in the name of law enforcement for whom justice has been delayed or denied:  George Floyd, Ahmad Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tamir Rice, Trayvon Martin, Akai Gurley, Stephon Clark, Sandra Bland, Philando Castile, Eric Garner, Walter Scott, Jordan Edwards, Atatiana Jefferson, Botham Jean.
