In November of 2016, Barbara McCloy went to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center for a hysteroscopy D and C procedure. This routine surgery is typically performed on an outpatient basis and takes about 20 minutes with a few days of recovery time.
Instead, the physician, Sharon Liu, D.O., perforated the wall of Mrs. McCloy’s uterus with polyp forceps and removed her right ovary, fallopian tube, and more than 18 centimeters of her right ureter. As a result of these injuries, Mrs. McCloy underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy and, subsequently, the removal of her right kidney. At the present time, Mrs. McCloy continues to suffer from pelvic pain and experiences urinary frequency, urgency and incontinence.
