Providing the highest level of legal representation
Since 1984, Jonathan Schochor has served as the senior managing partner for Schochor, Staton, Goldberg, and Cardea, P.A., leading his firm in representing clients in cases that involve medical malpractice and class action litigation. A skilled trial lawyer and litigator, he provides clients with the highest level of legal representation.
Among Mr. Schochor’s most significant cases was a class action involving an OB/GYN who secretly photographed and videotaped his patients, and was alleged to have committed boundary violations. Mr. Schochor spearheaded that class action, led negotiations, and successfully settled the case for $190 million – reportedly the largest, single perpetrator, sexual abuse settlement at that time in United States history.
A respected lecturer as well as litigator, Mr. Schochor has spoken at numerous medical institutions about patient safety and avoiding medical negligence, and about law, medicine, and tort reform for various television and radio programs, including “The Dr. Oz Show.” He has also testified before the Maryland State legislature involving similar issues.
A history of accomplishment
After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts from Pennsylvania State University in 1968, Mr. Schochor earned his Juris Doctor from the American University School of Law in 1971. He has been admitted to practice in Maryland, as well as before the United States District Courts for Maryland and the District of Columbia, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and the United States Supreme Court.
A member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Baltimore City Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, as well as the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, Mr. Schochor has also been involved with the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the American Board of Trial Advocates, and the Maryland Association for Justice.
Among his many other honors, Mr. Schochor was named 2016 Lawyer of the Year in Baltimore Medical Malpractice Law by Best Lawyers; Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2015 by the Maryland Association for Justice (co-recipient); and an Influential Marylander by The Daily Record. He has also been named among the Top One Percent by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel; the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers; and winner of the Cornerstone Award from SmartCEO Magazine.
Mr. Schochor has been featured in the 4th through 19th editions of Who’s Who in American Law; the 51st through 70th editions of Who’s Who in America; the 32nd through 35th editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business; and the 1st and 4th editions of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
