Case centered on medical negligence resulting from failure to properly
diagnose and treat a patient during hernia surgery
Baltimore, MD – Schochor, Staton, Goldberg and Cardea, P.A. today announced that it has won a $970,900 verdict in the Circuit Court for Talbot County, Md., on behalf of a plaintiff who suffered permanent life altering injuries as a result of negligence during surgery to repair a hernia.
The medical malpractice litigation was led by attorneys Gloria A. Worch and James D. Cardea on behalf of 76-year-old Bruce Clarke, who suffered permanent injuries as a result of a negligent failure to properly diagnose and treat a perforation of the stomach during surgery to repair a paraesophageal hernia. As a result of the medical negligence, Mr. Clarke required additional surgery and rehabilitation and suffers from permanent injuries.
On April 9, 2026, a jury rendered a verdict in favor of the plaintiff in the Circuit Court for Talbot County, Md., in the amount of $970,900 against the defendants, John T. The verdict included damages for pain and suffering, as well as past and future medical care costs and expenses. The Honorable Brett Wilson presided over the trial.
